Issues in Economic and Monetary Integration (EMI)

RMCE in collaboration with IMF Institute and with the support of the Government of Mauritius organised a course on issues in economic and monetary integration which 27 delegates across 13 African countries/RECs attended. This 2 weeks course was taught in English and held at Le Labourdonnais hotel in Mauritius.

Lectures and workshops on a wide range of topics including trade, economic, financial and monetary integration, the costs and benefits of the implementation process and political economy aspects of integration were held.

Outputs:

– 27 delegates across 13 African countries/RECs 
– Lectures and workshops on a wide range of topics including trade, economic, financial and monetary integration, the costs and benefits of the implementation process and political economy aspects of integration were held.
– Participants used both theory and case studies to compare economic and monetary integration experiences worldwide, and to reflect in particular on integration processes underway in the African Regional Economic Communities.
– Feedback received indicated that participants found the course to be useful in their role in their work positions.
– 27 completed feedback forms were collected and compiled
– Out of the 27 evaluation forms, 85.1% strongly agreed that the knowledge and skills learned during the course will have practical applications in their jobs and professional development.
– 88.8% were satisfied with the course.
– The workshops and practical examples, along with the knowledge and competence of resource persons were cited by many, as strengths of the course.
