Meeting at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC

Meeting at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC on mobilizing additional grants and highly concessional financing to build resilience and sustainability against climate change, pandemics, and unforeseen shocks in Small States.

On behalf of a consortium of partners (Africa RISE, AfriCatalyst, Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States), the Regional Multidisciplinary Centre of Excellence (RMCE) is organising a meeting to be held in the margins of the IMF/World Bank Spring meetings on 12 April 2023 in Washington DC to explore how to mobilize additional grants and highly concessional financing to build resilience and sustainability against climate change, pandemics, and unforeseen shocks.

The meeting is proposing to discuss how jointly advocate for a simplification of access procedures and conditions to the IMF Resilience Sustainability Facility, the provision of grant and highly concessional finance, and potential contributions to the IMF’s new RSF. In addition, the meeting will explore the interests of countries to work together to mobilize complementary and additional EU grants through a regional programme.  A concept note for the Regional Programme is attached.

  3. Guidance on the RST (Africatalyst)
  4. Presentation on proposed Regional Project
  5. Closing remarks from COMESA representative

 
Ministers of Finance of COMESA, Small States and representatives of OACPS have been invited to attend the meeting.
